You'll be able to see on the packaging if your sunscreen is water resistant – it’ll either be called 'water resistant' or 'very water resistant. The former means the product will retain its SPF for up to 40 minutes in the water and the latter will do so for up to 80 minutes. All Banana Boat® products meet or exceed this requirement.

It’s no secret that everyone gets a little sweaty in the hot sunshine – especially when partaking in sports, fun and games! When using a suncreen that’s sweat resistant, the film that lies on the skin allows perspiration to flow freely without affecting the SPF. This high tech film will continue to work throughout very active physical activity and won’t dissolve or migrate.

Preferably, products should be stored at room temperature, however all Banana Boat® products have been stability tested for usage at temperatures ranging from 48°C to 0°C.

Most manufacturers recommend using the product for no longer than 12 months after opening, as the formula may loosen, disintegrate and consequently lose its sun protection properties.

Depilatories and bleaching products make skin tender and may cause a rash. In most cases it will be safe to use sunscreen, however we’d recommend waiting 24h, especially if you have sensitive skin. If a rash does appear, stop using the sunscreen immediately and cleanse your skin with soap and water.

A product that is photostable offers the same level of protection throughout its SPF period and is not broken down by the sun’s energy.
