SPF Guide
The best way to apply sun cream
You should always apply about 3-4 tablespoons of your suncare product at least 20 minutes before you start soaking
up the sunshine. Any less than that will reduce your level of protection and you may burn. Frequent re-application
throughout the day is also a must, and you should also be mindful that a swim in the sea or a dip in the pool will affect
your protection – especially if you towel dry.
Some rules of thumb
When it comes to babies and young children, it’s best to keep them out of direct sunlight at all times. It’s also advisable
to use clothing to cover as much of their sensitive skin as possible, using a very high SPF (minimum 25) to protect the
areas that are exposed.
Everyone should avoid sun exposure between 11 am and 3 pm, when the sun is at its strongest and poses the highest risk of sunburn.
